What is Blister Packaging

Blister packaging, or blister packs as they were often called, is a general term that describe a 

packaging use a process know as thermoforming. Thermoforming involves heating a sheet of 

plastic to a temperature where it can be easily formed and molded into any desired shape.

Generally, a clear blister packaging will combined with a printed card by heat-seal or sliding, the products will sit securely and display to customers, but blister packaging is somewhat limited to light items, for heavier products, the clamshell packaging would be an excellent consideration.

The blister packaging can be packag any irregular or angular goods, so it popular in many fields, such as electronics, toys, hardware tools, cosmetics, or other consume & industrial products in the retail market.

Types of Blister Packaging

The flange of thermoformed blister packaging only surrounds the product and heat sealed to the front of a printed card, the rest of print card stays uncovered.

Similar to the face seal blister, but the plastic blister covers the full face of card, by fully covering the card to create a more durable package, minimizing potential damage to the printed card and reinforcing any hanger feature.

This type is similar to the previously mentioned blisters, but instead of heat sealing the blister to the card, it is “trapped” between two cards. It is adds more pilferage resistance, and the lack of a visible flange allows for more billboard space.

this type of blister is designed with flanges that wrap around 2 or 3 sides of an insert card. The card can slide into the blister tray, securing the card. The primary benefit of the blister tray that it can be assembled without the use of any sealing equipment. In fact, it is often secured with a staple or tape.

-You always want your blister packaging to be as small as possible to save your cost, smaller is better but please balance the size and shape of the product you want to package, making sure leave the proper space for effective graphics

-Generally there is a die-cut hang hole. This is NOT an additional cost and is required by most retailers.
